About Custom Yacht Works

Custom Yacht Works was formed by Mark Lewis and Matthew Sutherland having spent many years in the marine business working for the likes of Fairlie Restorations and Southampton Yacht Services. Custom Yacht Works primary business is the manufacture of bespoke sail and motor yachts. We also undertake custom made joinery work to meet client’s exact requirements. The factory and offices are situated in the picturesque Meon Valley in Hampshire, a few miles north of the Hamble River and The Solent.

All work is carried out in our fully equipped factory which includes a spray shop and drying room enabling us to produce exceptionally high finishes to our joinery work.

Through our classic training, Custom Yacht Works is able to undertake many different commercial and architectural projects not always directly connected to the marine industry. Our attention to detail means that we specialise in totally unique customised projects.

Throughout the company there is an extensive knowledge of all types of construction methods encompassing modern and traditional materials and techniques. Our time served tradesmen understand the difficulties involved in customisation and bespoke manufacturing. We are fully conversant with all types of hull construction whether composite or wood epoxy, this ability to work with all mediums allows us the flexibility to fabricate a wide range of high quality products to meet the exacting demands of our clients.

We manufacture bespoke vessels for the most discerning customer. We work closely with architects that have proven expertise in the design and specification of both sail and motor yachts. This association allows us to embrace modern innovations and bridge the gap between classic and modern styling. Our unique manufacturing abilities have afforded us the privilege of working with some of today's best designers including Alan Burnard, John Moxham, Ocke Mannerfelt, Stephen Jones and Theo Rye all well respected in the field of sailing yachts and performance motor boats.

Custom Yacht Works also fabricate plug and mould tools for the production of glass fibre hulls and superstructures. We are able to produce tooling for small components whether they are for single items, semi-custom vessels or full production runs. This gives us the ability to undertake a project from conception to completion.

Our belief is that our clients deserve the best in quality and value for money. Each vessel that we build is the best, but the next one will be better. We are always moving forward to improve on every level.

Whether it is a new build yacht, a full restoration, a re-fit or an individually crafted item of furniture, we undertake to give each client a high level of service with particular attention to detail which is sometimes lost in much larger companies. This often results in an association with the owner that develops into an ongoing friendship and an end product that has benefited from the owners positive contribution.
